removing smog hoses

ok.. i already removed the smog pump itself.. and there were hoses I left for awhile cuz I didn't feel like removing them. Well finally the other day I went out there and removed all the ones that were left open. Well when I did so my check engine came on and is stuck on, but the car runs no worse then before.. If not better. But what I'm sayin if you didn't understand is that the hoses where left open anyways not capped.. so whats the difference if there hangin and gone? Why would my check engine light come on?

also... Theres many more vacuum tubes runnin around that could be disconnected, well I didn't have vacuum caps. Now I'm right about those can be disconnected right, as long as I have caps?

One more thing...
As I was removed this long metal tube I noticed like a vavle in the exhaust manifold with this thing that looked like it should have been connect (still isn't though). well I reached down there and it opens and shuts. Whats that for?

You are prolly getting code 32. I get it at cruise speed b/c my egr isn't there. Make sure to cap off where the AIR lines went to the manifold. If you don't it will suck in air and fool your 02 sensor.

You can buy a set of caps from your local auto parts store and cap off most of the connections on the TB. Just leave the one's you need (i.e. map sensor, etc.)

BTW, what code are you getting?

I think my L05 has AIR on just the passenger side manifold (one at each cylinder). My O2 is on the driver's side so I don't think that would cause a problem. Are the 3rd gen L03s different??
I think my dad's L03 (91 Custom Cruiser wagon) is the same as mine, so I find that interesting.
