Anyone got any pics of this....what all parts did you need.
I looked in the tech articles and the only major part is the non drop air cleaner base.. WIll this work with my current K&N filter?
Where could I pick up a aftermarket base.. Should I try the autoshops or Chevy House? Thanks

I don't think that it will work. The diamater is different. One thing you could try to do is to cut a peice of sheet metal the same size as the air filter. Or go out to a scrap yard and buy another air filter housing and mod that one to an open air filter if you want to keep that K&N. As far as open housings go, you can go to a local parts store or through summit.

I'm running the Moroso Flat Bottom Air Cleaner, 14x3", part#65911, with a K&N Element. $48 at Summit.
There are certainly cheaper ones out there, but this one fits well and looks good.
Any flatbottom air cleaner will work. Drop base will still require the spacer, so like TBI305camaro said, try and stick with a non-drop base (flatbottom) if you can.

When I had the drop base I still had to use the spacer ring. Im sure that cuts down airflow alot. It also touched my cruise control cable and coil. The NON DROP has neither problem. Although with the edelbrock TBI Intake it almost touches my coil again tho. Man Im glad I dont have smog here. Id be screwed. I would have to sell my car. No cat, A.I.R, nothing....

there is no need to replace your stock aircleaner for smog inspection... as long as you relocate your IAC to the new base. The thermac on your old aircleaner has nothing to do with smog. It just helps the engine warm up quicker in cold weather.

In California you have to leave all Original equipment smog devices on unless they have a C.A.R.B. (california air resource board) certification number. This includes the stock air cleaner assembly. The vehicle won't pass the Visual inspection with it off.
