350 or 327?

There is a:
"350 Chevy 4 bolt to be
rebuilt, crank turned
10/10, $300 or best offer"

I am going to call if you guys say it sounds like a deal. I will probably call just to get in on it. 350s go like hot-cakes around here. Tons'o' racing guys. Mainly yanked for the cirlce tracks and stuff.

Or there is a 1968 dissassembled 327 for $200.

The 327 isn't too far from me. But the 350 could be another story. Should I go with the 327? Or try for the 350? Or both and hope I get one or the other?

Hmm, 327...high revving engine that makes good power.

Hmm, 350 4 bolt....lots of potential.

Its hard to say, grab both of them.

I'd at least go grab the 327 and turn around and sell it for at least twice that price. If it really is a 68 327, then that's the ever sought after large journal crank and block.

Haha, turns out I know the guy that is selling the 327. I bought a 3" aluminized I-pipe from him a while back for $25. Hopefully I will be able to get it from him. I'm sure he'd hold it for me if I wanted it. So, I am probably 70% sure I could get the 327. I havn't called about the 350 yet though. I'll probably give them a call soon though.

Well, I decided to join Iroc22 and run a '68 327 as well. Now I can say I have a car that is unique to this site. Unless he is running the same mods I am planning. But, hopefully this works out well.

Wish me luck.

Oh no I'm not actually running the 327 right now. It's still sitting on my garage floor alongside of my 283 also

Good luck with the swap and mods.

Well, mine will also be sitting on the floor until I can clear room and build a makeshift shelf or something for the thing. It's in about as many pieces as it can be.

I do have 1 question. Are the motor mounts going to work in my 3rd gen?

The 327 isn't a "high revving engine" and the next time somebody tells me it is I'm going to slap them. The ONLY time an engine revs higher is if you've got the intake, valve springs, and most importantly, the cam to do it. You can't stick a peanut cam in a 327 or a 302 for that matter and expect it to "rev" any better than the same cam in a 350, 383, 400, or 427!!! I've never heard of a 400+ cube SBC having any troubles getting high up there so why do people keep saying it's so! It's a myth! There have been plenty of dyno runs that show how the stroke of a crank has so very little effect on how high the motor will rev.
I say go with the 350. For the extra $100 you'll have 33 more cubes of air and fuel to burn.
