surging throttle/bad response

Hello...I just finished putting headers, a high flow cat, and a 3 inch catback on my L03...I know this is way too big exhaust for this engine, but I plan on switching engines in the future...

Anyway, I realized that I would loose a lot of low end torque (and I did...i can barely peel out now), but Im having some problems in the 3000+ RPM range.... The car is surging, like itll pull hard for about 1/2 of a sec then it wont, then itll pull hard again, etc. Does anyone know what would cause this? It did not do it before, and its nothing like a clutch slipping.

Also, what are some ways to increase throttle response on the L03?

my surging problem was because of a burnt spark plug wire, which you could easly have now because of headers, could also be a spark plug

Wow, that sounds like the problem I have been having. I believe that it is a lean fuel problem. You freed up your exhaust, and with the extra exhaust flow, you have more intake flow, which requires more fuel to maintain the desired air:fuel ratio. It could be your fuel pump, or you'll get lucky and cure the problem by boosting your fuel pressure ($0.25 mod).

Good luck

Could it be possible that the O2 got bashed a little, maybe cracking the internals.
