The truck is running now, but......
I finally got it to run right it was a faulty chip, i changed it now it runs. The truck will idle fine but if you give it just a tad bit of gas it starts popping like crazy out the exhaust. If you floor it it will clean up and rev quite nicely. The timing is set at 8* tdc, When we put the timing light on it we rotated the distributor and the timing mark did not move, But the engine died anyway. I pulled the codes and got 42. This distributor is brand new from proform. Can anyone lend me some advise on this i would really love to get to drive my truck with the new engine in it!!!!!
8°btdc or atdc? Code 42 means you left your dst wire unhooked after you timed it, doesn't it? dst wire is the wire you have to disconnect to time the motor (In th passenger compartment under the glovebox in my 95 Suburban)What year is your truck? same year ECM?

Quick question about timing. If you disconnect the battery and reset the ecm, does the base timing go back to 0* or does it stay set at where you set it?
