MSD Blaster coil Kool blue air filter
WOW!
I just installed a MSD Blaster coil and an Accel KOOL BLUE air filter. Before my car basically would not rev much more than 5200 RPM now It will pull right up to 6 GRAND and that is where my sack ran out not the car. My stock air cleaner still sounds like a jet engine at hi RPM though. I have a dual snorkel but can't find the ducts and chevy only still has 3 of the 4. anyone know where I can get all 4? Next long trip I'll see how the milage is doing.
Just impressed with simple mods and felt like sharing.

Just ordered the Holley Blue TBI replacment filter, will let you know how it is on Friday when I receive it from jegs.. Along with my MSD 8.5 Wires and Coil
....
.... you say your L03 is making power up to 6000 rpm? No offence but unless you've done cam and head work (along with some intake exhaust work to make it worth while), thats the biggests load of
I'v ever heard. My L03, with K&N (woo woo

Realistically though its good till around 5200-5300 rpm in 1st and 2nd after that it's surging, I think its headers.
In third it dies out at 3600 and the last 400 rpm is a fight, but she'll pull to 3800 by 1/4 mile's end giving me a tag under 90 mph... 89.xx mph...

My tach is correct and I pull to 5,500 when racing, with peak power around 5,200-5,300rpm. 6,000 may be a little high, and it may be more around 5,700 rpm. Factory tachs are known to be a little off, however, I think most of the people who doubt the ability of an upgraded ignition set up are just losing out.

6000 RPM
I am not saying it changed my power band, like changing a cam would
I am saying that it was very easy to tell when to shift because power fell of a cliff at 5100 - 5200 rpm before. the car just would not rev any faster than that period. unless it was on jack stands I don't think that I could have hit 6000Rpm in gear before.
Power does die off and i figure my best shift point is around 5300 to 5400 rpm after the cheep mods but it is now very easy to hit 6000 in third gear.

The msd blaster coil did help my power band by about 500 rpm, and probably more, but I don't wanna take it past 5,500rpm. I still suggest getting your tach check however. The easy way is to go to auto zone, tell them you think your alternator is dying, and use their machine that reads the alternator, because it also reads your rpm. Compare your tach to what auto zone's machine is reading and there you go.
