backfireing with cam swap

backfireing with cam swap

Alright I'm backfiring and not starting it gets really close but doesnt quite make it. So what did I forget about? I have my timing set at 4* and sure that the timing chain is right. Help me out guys this is frustrating as hell

sounds like it is in the timing

Don't know what kinda cam you put in it, but generally cam with more duration like more timing. Either that, or your vavles are too tight when you put them back on.

Sounds like the distributor might be 180 off. The same thing happened to me and i just re stabbed the distributor ro solve the problem.

When you changed timing gears did you change both gears? It sounds weird but, if you only changed the camshaft gear, you may created a problem with the relationship between old gear and new gear.

It is generally the 180 degrees off problem. Valves being to tight can cause it too. I have done both.

i can also vouch for the valves being to tight and shooting flames thru the throttle body.
