You may want to consult those on the DIY PROM board, I beleive it may take a custom prom to ditch the EGR and have no check engine light.

I wouldn't recommend it on a daily driver.. check the tech articles for complete explanation...

quick sum of it is, without egr, timing can't be advanced by the ecm, engine runs hot in the combustion chambers, knock, high NOx levels and eventual o-ring failure among other things failing...

If you get a LTx cam, the overlap allows for a good amount of self egr making having an egr system redundant, trade off is you need a cat in place to provide enough backpressure to perform the self egr...

Yea you'll start throwing a code at random times without a custom chip. Lord knows I know that, lol.

I got an LT1 cam coming.....so I can remove my A.I.R.? My timing is already bumped up 8*.

Do you mean A.I.R or EGR? You can remove the A.I.R. pump and hoses anytime you want, with or without an lt1 cam. If you need to pass emmisions, just put the pump back on for the test. It's a really easy mod to do-though don't expect to gain anything from it other than less crap under the hood.
If you mean EGR, than you will still need a custom chip to keep the computer from spitting out a code.

i know i'm gonna be an exception, but when i did my whole engine swap, i did not have a place for the egr to go on and left it off. i also made sure to remove the little box it plugs into and for some reason, i have yet to get a code. no custom chip yet, nothin. its kinda odd. it hasnt been driven too much due to tranny problems, but thus far, no errors. maybe i'm just lucky

Air tubes do very little to affect performance, headers on the other hand will. If you get an LTx cam, the overlap serves as a self egr function thus you won't really need an egr with those cams. Air tubes only function in open loop when the engine is warming up, when in closed loop the pump sends that air to the cat where its needed. Removing the air pump/air tubes will free up some accessory drag, but its so minor it more a cosmetic mod than anything. An underpulley kit will do that all for you anyways in terms of freeing up accessory drag.

If you don't have to worry about emissions, pull that stuff out.

If your not worried about emmissions there is ALOT of stuff that can be removed. Only emmissions piece I have left is the EGR.

whats it mean to have Tennese plates? In WV technically you arent supposed to change anything but they dont really care so...i guess it just depends on how the law is around you but removing stuff like that doesnt really matter...most cops wouldnt know anyways....Unless you have brackets without anything in them and way to much space.
