Has anyone used roller rockers on their car? I want to see if they are a viable option, i will be puting in an lt1 cam and an edelbrock intake, should i get 1.5 or 1.6? or a combo? Any brands to steer clear of? any particular thing i need to know about putting them on the 305?

Be careful of the 1.6 ratio with lt1 cam on stock heads. Stock heads max out at about .480" lift. lt1 would be around .490" lift with 1.6 rockers.
Don't buy the cheapy $150 roller rockers. Several people on this forum have complained about them wearing quickly and breaking. You would need the $300 set of self aligning rockers and that much money would be better spent on other areas of that engine to make more HP.

I feel that on stock heads your money would be better spent on buying new heads or other mods. You won't gain that much hp off of rockers. $$ to HP ratio is to high.

Vortecs have the same .480" lift limitation so unless you have more machine work done then you are still stuck with 1.5 rockers. The world torquer heads can run over .500" lift and then you could use the 1.6 rockers and squeeze more hp out. Whether its worth the cost or not has been debated on here many times.
I would say that if you are going from 1.5 regular to 1.5 roller the cost isn't worth it but to go from 1.5 regular to 1.6 roller then you will gain some lift and would be closer to justifying the cost. I have run the 1.6's and couldn't tell the difference. If the heads flow substantially more at the .490" lt1 with 1.6 rr instead of the .460" stock lt1 lift then it should make enough power to notice.

Another note.....
Don't waste your money on getting arms with roller trunions. A stamped steel roller tip rocker arm like Comp Cams Magnums are fine. There are a lot more headaches involved with full roller rockers than there is HP to justify spending the money on them and dealing with the accelerated wear time.
FYI, I've had two cars that both had full roller aluminum rockers. One set was Crane Gold, and the other was Harland Sharp. They both looked great, and perhaps did help a little on both engines they were on (400HP), but not enough to justify what I spent on them. Plus both cams were solid, so full roller was the only way to get true accuracy out of them. Not needed on a hyd. cam.

i was reading in a super chevy that they threw S/R torquers on a 400 small block (mighty mouse) and lost hp b/c cause as they claimed "they flowed to well" - what do u guys think?
