I have a 1989 RS TBI auto that had a 2.73 non posi. I bought the whole rear end off a 1986 IROC w/3.42 disc w/proportioning valve for $200. The difference is 0-60 8.5 sec stock with 2.73 and with the 3.42 0-60 is 7.3 @ 15.49 quarter mile sec via G-tech. Of course hypertech chip, March pulleys, TBI spacer helped as well. But the engine is stock otherwise. No headers, no cat-back, head and the intake never touched. The project took 4 hours with 2 people, regular tools and long shower afterwards. 3.42 off the IROC made a big difference.

Hello, yes it is posi and I do get some wheelspin.
When I tested it with a G-tech I had to ease on the gas and
then mash it all the way by second. What mods do you have?

Yes you are right my speedo is 5mph higher than usual that hasnt been fixed, however this doesnt effect the G-Tech operations at all. For the tools, make sure you utilize two jacks and two jackstand, a can of WD-40, breaker bar, standard tools (power tools even better to speed time and convience). Please take caution because the whole rear end is heavy.

But doest the g tech go by the speedometer readings. LIke when the speedometer hits 60 itel stop the time. How could just the gtech know how fast the car is going.

it uses the inertia of the vehicle to calculate how fast the car runs through the quarter mi. It never hooks up to your speedo. You just hook it up to the windshield and plug into the cigarette lighter. It has a display and you have to zero it out. After you zero it out you push and hold the go button (dont really know what button it was my friend was doing all the button pushing.). Then you go and itll let you know when to stop. Its usually off on the mph though by about 5-7 MPH too fast.

The 3.42 disk rear end was purchased complete with axles, brake pads, calipers and rotor as well as sway bars, sway bar links, springs. Also the proportioning valve was included off the IROC. Then you must bleed the brakes really well otherwise its all go and no stop.
