Well it's called an MAT or IAT so measuring the air that the motor sucks in is probably better than measuring the air temp of say your interior, or the exhaust!
Just stick it as close as possible to the TB. On my open element I just have it hanging throubh the tranny dip stick loop. It's about 8" away from the element but there isn't a difference in temp, I've checked.

I drilled a hole and attached it to the stock location on the base of my open element. I figure it should at least be monitoring the inlet air temp (as it is supposed to).

Thanks for the info.
I called Howell, they said it goes in the cab?!?!?!?
I too thought it should be at least in the engine compartment if not in the intake air stream.
I like the idea of drilling a hole in the air element and mounting it there.
That means I need to redo the wiring - oh well.
Thanks for the replies.

, y would anyone tell you to put a sensor inside your car, unless they wanted you to do it so that the sensor would read a cooler air condition, causing the computer to dump alittle more fuel into the engine, that is the only reason i could think of. Thread Starter

I don't know....
Howell's wiring harness is only long enough to stay inside the compartment close to the computer. Hence, I will need to add more wire for this MAT sensor when I place it inside the air intake.
Again, thanks for the replies.

just throw a 4.7k ohm resistor at the end of the conector for the IAT sensor, makes the computer think the air is ideal for power, what ever that ideal temp is.
