electric fuel pump swap. info?

Has anyone swapped or put in a new electric fuel pump?
Of course it's in the fuel tank, I know.

What brand fuel pump did you replace it with?
Any precautions?
Experience during this swap?

Any information is greatly appreciated.
Thanks! in advance...

Don't get all that BS. You end up paying $80 for a relay and some wires compared to just getting the pump with install kit for under $100. http://www.autoperformanceengineering.com/

Have you ever used it and the last I looked ot was about 50 bucks more.

[edit] Duh thats right TBI doesnt need the high pressure pump.

Anyways tho the site that you listed, on their "in-tank" page it has a graph saying what the pump will flow at 12 volts and 13.5 volts and leaves it at that.. Wonder why they have it on their site and not say anything about why the pump doesnt get full voltage (Maybe cause it is the 14 guage wire that the factory uses)Hrmmm The whole point of the "hot wire kit" is to make the pump see the 13.5 volts all the time.. Yeah it might be a lil pricey but damn the quality is awesome on it. Nice terminated ends, high quality wire and it is easy to install.

2 reasons.
1, he's overpriced with the wire and relay
2, if you notice the flow rates at 12 volts you'll see that for a TBI system even the 190lph can support 576hp at 12 volts!
$83 shipped in the US vs. $172.50 (160+12.50 shipping and insurance).
That's a price difference of $89.50
So for $90 do you think you could run a $4.00 10 guage wire from the battery to a $3.00 relay next to your fuel filter? I don't know about you but for the price it seems rather high if not a rip.
Oh yeah, and my car doesn't charge at 14.5 volts even at the battery! It's more like 13.8, 14.0 on a below freezing morning. 13.6 in the summer. The battery provides 12.4 volts red top ultima. So those claims are for an extream case like if you're running with 100% draw on the alternator while racing WOT at high speeds, lol. Sorry but again I can't see spending $90 on wire and a relay, just ain't gonna happen.

I dont blame ya at all.. I've basically made the same kit for a friend of mine when we installed a inline NOS high pressure pump in his IROC for err about 10-15 bucks (by the time I got all the ends and **** I needed it came out to some where arround there) .. Granted it isnt as nice looking as the one fro racetronix but it does the job well.

Sometimes I think it is easer just to buy a premade kit like that (even if it is expensive) just to have it installed in about 5 min vs 45 min it takes to heat shirnk and solider everything..
