That should be your air pump. Are you in a emissions legal state? If you aren't I would suggest reroute your belt to bypass the pump or reroute it to bypass the airpump and the A/C. If you are interested let me know and I will show you some pics of how I did it. Works fine. No problems.

OK, well you can still bypass it until you get another one or get that one fixed with a shorter belt. I was interested in bypassing mine just for the track so I tried a shorter belt and it worked so well I just left it that way and drive it daily. I will try and find a pic for you. You might be able to do this all year and put it back just for inspection day too .

I think this is the one. I used a 65" belt for this.

Well, I have lately removed those two things. But, for Cali you should probably keep them around.

That is what I did at Auto zone. I just said I need a 6 groove serp. belt that is 65" long. The first thing they wanna do is find out what car it's for. That is funny. I usually give them the answers they want. I said a 90 RS camaro with a 350. They said that car didn't come with that motor. I said I know.

I think that is funny that they lean on that computer so much. You have to explain it to them usually but they will have it.

Yeah, that is a different water pump I think than mine. I don't know what years they are different but some waterpumps flowed opposite of the norm. I don't know if mine is opposite or yours is but, that must be the case here. Good point though. What year is your car?

All 3rdgen serpentine setups use a reverse flow water pump. If you change the belt routing such that the water pump no longer turns the opposite direction of the crank, you will need a standard rotation pump.

My car is a 88 which I believe was either the first or second year for the serpentine setup. The belt is a DAYCO from advance part # 5060820 so its a 82'' belt.

Yeah, just take it off. Won't hurt anything. My hose dosen't come too close to the belt.

both of yalls setups turn the water pump CCW. the crankshaft turns CW, stop and think about it for a second. only thing is tbi305camaro setup looks like it would have more of the belt "on" on the pulley...

Yeah, you are right. I was totally confused after that. I had to draw mine on paper before I could get this straight. Brain Fart! Would the grooves be different? Looks like his water pump pulley has the smooth side of the belt on it. True?

Manual steering? Ouch! Isn't that a handfull? Could you tell any difference or did you do it with other mods at the same time?

I love it at high speed the car is easier to control. with the power steering at over 100mph the car would be very touchy
also I now have a tighter turning radius don't need two foot ball fields to turn around :hail:

ok i took the bracket off, and the hose sits on the belt... i loosened where the belt connects to the radiator and turned it a bit and now the hose sits like 1 cm or 2 off of the belt.. but im concerned about it... is there anything i can do to make sure it doesnt come down and sit on the belt...

HHHMMM! Strange. I do have a "stock replacement" hose but I didn't think that would make a difference. Can you loosen the hose on your waterneck and back the hose up a bit then retighten it? Maybe that will work.

P.S. Here is another thought. Can you take your hose off and reverse the hose? Don't know if that will work or not, just a wild thought.
