Should I buy this stock L98 cam?
A friend of mine is selling a stock L98 cam out of his 92 B4C for $40. My ttop 92 RS is completely stock (well it has a lot of suspension work, 3.42 posi, sfcs, 3" exhaust system). I am considering buying the cam just for the heck of it. I will probably have to replace the timing chain anyways...so might as well right? The problem is....eventually i'll have to decide between rebuilding the 305 and switching to TPI....or putting in a ZZ4 short block with TPI....keep in mind im still working on a 383 for my hardtop car (cash is tight).....so first....what kind of difference will i notice if I put this cam into an otherwise stock 305 L03? Second....I will probably end up just rebuilding the 305...and sticking on some better heads and such with TPI (dont want it too extreme...or expensive...but I do want it much quicker....14s maybe)......is it worth $40 to use in a rebuilt 305 with better heads and TPI?

Both cams are good but LT1 is better and can be had for $50 shipped. Search ebay or post WTB on camaroz28.com

Why is the LT1 better? Lobe design? I believe the L98 at least '89 has more duration and I think the lift is similar. Just wondering if the better LT1 is worth $40(I realize for other people the price is the same) since I have a L98 cam out of my '89 GTA. This is for a LO3 engine.
