Car is running SUPER rich, 5MPG

K, I don't know what to do. The car is sunning super rich. I bought a new TPS(right now it's at .70). It's a dog anywhere under 3k, but once it hits 3k, it's a bat out of hell.

I just upgrade the intake to a preformer, with the stock TBI unit. I also put in a new cam, specs are .454/.454 lift @ 050 218/218 duration. I also put in 1.6 rockers arms and 350 heads that were ported. and a 160 thermo.

It's still running on the stock chip, going to make a windll cable today and have the guy at tbichips make me a chip.

But I don't see why it would run rich over lean? All I did was add more air, I didn't touch the TBI unit??

Why am I running so rich? I need to fix this ASAP, I can't afford filling up every other day!!

is it possible that when you put the 160t-stat in, you engine stays in open-loop?

you might also chekc your O2 out, if it is telling the computer to keep dumping fuel in that would cause you to run rich. also one of you injectors could be stuck open or something wacky.

do you get any codes?

It's the cam. Anytime you try to run a big cam on a stock chip this is going to happen. The ecm is seeing alot less vacuum at idel and cruise speeds and thinks the motor is under a load. It may even be low enough to ingage power enrichment. You need a custom chip real bad. I would stop driving the car right away. I drove mine rich for awhile and it started using oil. I think I washed down the rings. I ran non detergent oil for awhile and it seems to be doing better.
You also need alot more timing in the chip.
By the way your gas mileage will improve greatly with a good chip.
