vacuum readings

vacuum readings
WERE STRUGGLING.
THE MULE WANTS TO DO ONE THING AND WANT IT TO DO ANOTHER. SHE HAS A VACUUM LEAK, AND INSTEAD OF JUST RIPPING OFF THE INTAKE AND STARTING OVER WITH IT, I WANT TO HOOK A GAUGE UP. SO WHAT SHOULD I BE READING? WHAT PSI?
SECOND, WHAT TIMING SHOULD I BE RUNNING. YESTERDAY I HAD 10 DEGREES AND TODAY I HAVE 4. i DOESN'T SEEM TO MAKE A REAL DIFFRENCE WHEREVER I HAVE IT. i HAVE A SMALL CAM, BARELY BIGGER THAN STOCK, AND A PERFORMER TBI. YOU KNOW WITHOUT LOOKING UP THE NUMBERS I THINK I WAS TOLD MY COMPUCAM 2020 WAS SMALLER THAN STOCK. HMMMM.
OH LAST BUT NOT LEAST. FUEL PRESSURE, IT WON'T CHANGE. I HAVE IT AT 15.5 PSI AND AM TRYING TO GET IT DOWN TO AT LEAST 13. BUT IT ADJUSTING THE SPRING DOESN'T DROP THE PRESSURE. HMMMM
WELL, THE VACUUM READINGS ARE WHAT I WANT TO CONCENTRATE ON TODAY. MY CHILTONS DOESN'T HAVE THE FACTORY SPECS AND I READ ON ANOTHER POST THAT I SHOULD BE READING 19-20 PSI WITH EVERYTHING ON. IS THIS ACCURATE?

You need a new keyboard. It's hard to understand what you're saying when you're yelling.
There shouldn't be positive pressure in the intake manifold. If there was then you've either got a s/c or turbo. Vacuum (lack of pressure) should be very good with that cam. All I can tell you is that it should be between 25 and 45 kpa. I'm not a big fan of inchs, to me, 0kpa is no air or vacuum, 100kpa is sea level, and anything more is below sea-level or "boast". Where are you measuring the vacuum and for a quick fix/find for a vacuum leak, use starter fluid and spray it lightly around the gasket. If a runner is getting too much air the fluid will help richen up the mixture and the engine will sound different (better/faster).

COOL JP. YES I DO NEED TO APOLOGIZE ABOUT MY PREVIOUS POST. I WAS UNDER DURESS TO HURRY MY POST BY MY FRIENDS WHO WHINE ABOUT THE MULE NOT RUNNING, THEN TRY TO PULL ME AWAY FROM IT WHEN I HAVE THE TIME TO SIT DOWN WITH HER.
I HAVE RECENTLY TRIED TO USE THE STARTING FLUID METHOD AS WELL AS THE STETHESCOPE METHOD TO NARROW DOWN MY SOURCE FOR POTENTIAL LEAKS, BUT HAVE HAD NO LUCK.
SHOULD I USE THE HEATER VACUUM FITTING OR A PASSAGE ON THE TB? MY HEATER FITTING IS CURRENTLY PLUGGED AND IS MOUNTED AT THE BASE OF THE INTAKE BEHIND THE TB.
ALSO, DO YOU THINK IT MATTERS THAT IT RUNS SMOOTH AT IDLE AND JUST MISSES AT PART THROTTLE OR SHOULD THE TEST BE PERFORMED THROUGHOUT THE RPM RANGE TO ACCURATELY FIND THE VACUUM READINGS?
