Gains after removing AIR?

I got my cat taken out when I had my turbo muffler put on...I really didnt notice any difference. I'm getting ready to go and yank the AIR crap out....think I will notice any difference?

Also, what should I do with the AIR tubes to the headers? Plug em or what?

Also I hear that it lets your car run alot cooler....is that true?

Will I have to disconnect the EGR? What effect will that have?

The A.I.R. pump has very little load. Removing it will have a negligable effect.

Yes, just go ahead and put a cap on the header fittings.

No there's really no affects to the engine's powerband when removing the AIR pump and injection system.

Don't remove your EGR system. It has nothing to do with the AIR system.

Yeah, the only gains from removing the A.I.R. is space saving and a little weight and ratio.

the AIR pump becomes a Idler pulley 30 seconds after a cold start. It pumps air into the cat so it warms up quicker to make the EPA sissies happy. After the cat is warmed up, selenoid switches and the pump becomes usless for the rest of the day ..... WAY TO GO GM!

The only difference a muffler alone is going to give you is sound. Upgrade the whole exhaust system. Then do some of the free mods posted here on site. You should see a difference then.

Actually the extra air at cold start prevents the unburnt fuel from destroying and plugging your cat. There is no sensor to know when the cat is warmed up... so you're right, Thanks GM!

Does removing the air pump negatively affect emissions when the car is already warmed up?

Gettting a 3-way catalytic converter can fix this.

It removes hydrocarbons from the exhaust IIRC. 2 way's don't and those are what our cars come with from the factory. 3 way's don't require AIR injection when cold.
