Damn Tbi

i start my car and it cuts out as soon as it cranks over. it takes me hammering on the gas to keep it running. if i try to drive it first thing in the morning it acts funny. i give it gas and it gets "jerky" doesn't want to go . please help me figure this out!!!

check to make sure that the O2 sensor is working. it is ignored during teh cold start up, but if it is bad you will have carboned up and not firing properly.
another possible, and highly liekly answer, is that the IAC is dying/dead and not openign to help the car start and warm up properly.
pull out a plug or two and see hwo they look. if you pull out several polugs to check see if they all look the same or if soem look bad and some are ok, that wodl be a sign of an ignition system problem.

hope this helps

later

My car has been doing the same thing ever since I got it. I've replaced the O2 sensor,TPS,AIC,Distributor,Cap&Rotor, spark plugs,Wires,Coolant temp sensor, all vacuum lines and no changes.

I'm thinking I might have a damaged intake manifold gasket or something... I just dont know.

The thing that pisses me off the most is that I've had the car hooked up to a scanner twice while running...everything on the scanner checked out just fine and dandy. No codes, nothing.

What REALLY pisses me off is sometimes on the highway I'll get a "CHECK ENGINE" light...after 10 mins it goes away. I go to pull the code the next day and all I get is 12's.... !!!

I just bought a 91 RS with a L03 and of the few times I've started it in very cold weather it's done the exact same thing... cranks over, starts but as soon as you get off the starter it dies immediately. Have to give it gas to keep it going... not a whole lot, just a few blips. However, I havn't been able to diagnose if its a similar problem to yours or not yet(car is in storage and I'm broke till tax money gets here)... thinking it might be but the car has also been basically sitting for the past ~6 months or so with an almost empty gas tank so could just be a fuel pressure + water in fuel problem. Gonna replace all the ignition in a couple weeks when I do a tuneup and I'll let ya know what happens. I'll be sure to fill the tank to see if it is or is not a fuel pressure + water in fuel problem also before I do the tuneup.

my car did this for 2 days.
I put new plugs and wires. I replaced every censor I was know to under the hood. The fuel filter was only a month old. so that was good to go. Well the 2 or 3rd day the fuel pump gave out.
Just my experience, I know it's different for everyone. Maybe it helps ya.

Re: Damn Tbi

I had a similar problem last year. I thought it was a timing issue, replaced cap, rotor, timing chain, redid timing. Did same thing so I replaced injectors and injector pod, and still nothing, also replaced fuel filter, and it all turned out to be that the fuel pump wasn't pushing enough pressure so I replaced and she started right up.

So, I would check the fuel pressure.
