TBI - Need help with misses

I have a mildly modified 305 TBI on a '92 Camaro RS and I have got a problem that has stumped me! When I first start the car and run it for maybe 1 mile, it seem to miss. Like something is popping in the engine, like a spark plug was misfiring. But after a couple of miles or so it seems allright. Although it'll still do it from time to time. What could it be? When it misses, I can actually hear as well as feel it. Your input would be great!

Could have a lifter thats pumped up and won't bleed down or a valve might just need adjusting. Worst case senario could be a burnt valve. I'm sure there could also be a number of other reasons as well. Run a compression check on it, it should tell you if one of the above reasons are the problem. Hope you get it fixed with out a lot of hassle.

Thanks Steve for the quick response. But would the car's overall temperature affect it? If I threw a valve wouldn't do it all the time, not just at starup? Anyways thanks again. I'm still stumped.

Run the compression check on it, it will tell you alot about your engine. You might also hook up a vacuum guage on it also.

Anyone else have any idea's that would help Mikey's cuase?

I need opinions

I just read a thread on this TBI board about the backfiring and popping. My problem is very similar to that. Could a clogged fuel filter be the answer? I have modified the fuel pressure regulator, could that be a problem as well?

Thanks for the inputs
