Just put the car in the shop...

I'll have a new clutch tomorrow

126k miles on the factory clutch!

I got the car 16k ago and it needed it then, so I've never really known what a good hooking up clutch feels like in my car... I know its just going to seem so much faster! Especially compared to now, the car wouldnt get out of its own way, the engine would spin up and it would take off very s l o w l y....

Anyway :lala:

LOL. Reminds me of my 73 'Cuda 340...toasted that clutch so much, I could start off in 4th gear Good luck with the repair..you're gonna like the car a whole lot more when its running right.

Yup...

Also the throwout bearing was gone so the car lied to shudder sometimes and throw fits going into gear...

2nd gear isnt synchronising, and sometimes 4th doesnt either, and I'm just hoping that its just the clutch not lining up correctly from the pilot or throwout bearing being bad... We'll see.

when you get the clutch in your car make sure you dont hot rod it till you have about five hundred miles on it. This is very important

Why not? I mean as long as I break in the clutch the right way. I've never really heard of having to take it easy for 500 miles...It might be hard.

I dont need no steenking clutch..

The mechanic just called me and told me that the clutch was down to the bare metal! He also said that it wasnt the stock clutch...

The rubber boot on top of the T-5 had a tear in it and let water inside of the tranny!!! He said he's going to drain it really good and replace the fluid. He was going to order a new rubber boot for the tranny untill he told me it cost $35 from GM... I told him no I'll just get one off a junkyard car. I went over there and he showed me the T-5...the fluid was a milky pink color...definatly not the healthy red looking stuff.

Another problem he got into was the crossmember bolts were rusted to the unibody, and he broke 2 of them trying to get them out. There was also a nice 3" rust hole up on the side of the body. Thats where rain water has been coming in and getting my interior all wet... I'll be breaking out with the fibreglass this weekend looks like.

I guess my car is from up north...There was miscellaneous small rust spots on the underside, but everything else looked pretty good. Just waiting for the flywheel to come back from the machine shop and I'll be able to cook off some tires

I went over there to see how things were going and now atleast I know how to take the tranny off and do the clutch myself if the need arises in the future, and atleast I'll know how to drop the T-5 when I do the rebuild.

:lala:

Anyway, I'm happy with how it's going.
