L69 H.O kit difference?

L69 H.O kit difference?
Hey every1 i was just curious would adding a L69 5.0 H.O air cleaner kit to a LO3 V-8 make a big difference, just wondering b/c my friend is considering getting one.

I made my own dual snorkel.
I got a whole extra used air cleaner housing for $15, cut the snorkel off, cut the thermac unit off so that I only had about 3.5 inches of metal snorkel left, cut a square hole in my housing, attached with rivets and sealed with JB weld, spray painted the whole thing black. I then bought square air hosing at Advance Auto for $7.50 and attached, and mounted the extra plastic scoop to the pass side. I had to relocate the heater diverter valve towards firewall by shotening the hoses, and I switched to a V6 coolant bottle ($10) and relocated it under the front plastic cover plate for the hood latch. I used a hole saw to make a hole large enough for the cap from coolant bottle to extrude. Total cost was $35 and I could definitely tell the difference.

do not get an open element. you may get slightly more air than a dual snorkle setup, but you will get hot air from the engine bay. the dual snorkles draw cold air from outside. cold air = more dense = more power.
the only good reason to use an open element would be if you had a cowl hood or some kind of functional scoop to draw in outside air.

totally agreed thats why i had a hood scoop on my 91 RS with the open element yes you get twice as much air but its the hot air from the engine
