modified holley 670

i saw this on ebay. for the past several months, i've been going back and reading many of the old tbi posts on the board. some time back, using the 670 holley throttle body and the stock injector housing was getting a lot of attention. the consensus seemed to be that the holley injectors sucked. i know holley has upgraded the injectors since then, is this still a good setup?

also, which would flow better, the holley 670 or the 454 unit? i realize neither is necessary for a stock 305, but a bigger engine will need more air.

The Holley unit and the BBC unit will flow very close to the same.

I've heard that the 454 unit flows somewere in the 500-580cfm range, and the holley 670 actually flows close to 610.
People still say their injectors are junk, a 670 with stock 350 injectors seem to be a good combo for a larger powered motor than a stock 305.

The older holley injectors are junk, the newer (4 years old now) injectors are fine. They are delphi units I do believe. You can tell the differenct just by looking at the spray of fuel or more easily the wiring plugs. If it's got those round plugs it's old junk, if the wires exit 90 out towards the front of the car like Rochester then it's the newer style. I'm running 28psi of fuel pressure into these newer holley injectors and they have no fits. I even ran them up to 35psi but had no way of testing them under 90% duty cycle so I'll just hope they hold up. So far so good, idle is right at 650rpm in gear and I haven't had any issues with pulse widths screwing up the idle characteristics SO.... I might not even need to go back to using the vacuum ref. FPR.
