Oil Pan Question

I looked using the search button but I couldnt find anything. My question is can the oil pan be removed from the car with it still being in the car? Or is there something where you can unbolt the passenger side motor mount and remove it that way or something?

That's a pretty tough job in my opinion. The last time that I did it, the trans was out of the car. I jacked up the motor a little bit too but I can't remember if I had to do that or just wanted to make it a little easier. The crossmember makes this pretty difficult. Take another look, you'll see what I mean

Okay, I just bought my Iroc-Z and this is for a friends 92 RS 305 TBI Engine. I never really looked at how hard it was going to be. I know its not going to be fun but It might have to be done. Oil pressure keeps dipping pretty low like down to 5 psi if that then when you touch the gas pedal it goes back up to about 40. Its got the proper amount of oil too, but it just keeps dipping down after you come up to a stop sign. The Service Engine light comes on to when the oil pressure drops that much. It also stutters like it needs new plugs and wires but those are new. Thanks for the help

You have to unbolt the motor mounts, jack the engine up, and put a piece of wood between the mount and the engine to get enough clearance to remove the pan and slide it out. Then you can take the oil pump out and replace it. Bolt the pan back up and lower the engine and bolt the mounts back up and you are done.

I just did mine, I had the exhaust y-pipe off, then I unbolted both engine mounts and jacked it up, the pan came right out, be careful if your a/c works tho, mine did, now it doesnt, I cracked one of the condenser lines when I jacked up the engine
