Ok at first i thought it was just needin a tune up so i went ahead and got new (stock) plugs new moroso 8.8mm wires new cap and rotor and a new o2 sensor since i stripped it out during header swap. Anyways it seams to be running fine till i drive around for a half hour it will start to idle bad again but in the morning when its still cool its fine. I gapped the plugs to what uder hood says at .035 but been told should have done .040 what could make it do this its kindof strange. The orig plug i took out didnt look all that bad but the cap and rotor were burned good and the coil pack or whatever you call it had some corrosion on it but i cleaned it off. anybody have an idea whats wrong? it idles around 500 bumps to 6or700 then seams like it misses and goes down to 5 again WTF?

 

Mine was doing that, it turned out to be a bad coil. Get a new one from MSD or Accell, but I don't reccomend Accell, and your problem should disappear. Also, if you test the coil and it checks out it could still be bad, I tested mine and the readings were in spec but the coil still wasn't outputting enough voltage.

I've had a few too many problems with products from Accell, both of the coils from them I had in my car went bad in under a year and one of their ignition boxes crapped out on me.

 

Have any winaldl data? It's hard to say what's causing your idle down low. Could be a plug wire getting loose or burning on the headers. A coil shouldn't go bad, it's a solid piece of equipment with nothing to go "bad" unless you severly overheat it or short it out for a long period of time. A coil like our stock units are just metal and wire wrapped together a lot of times.
What are the battery volts at really low engine speeds and does the idle surge up and down at all?

 

no i dont have any data sorry the volts are just above 13 when at a idle stop its been around 13v since i got it so i figure it was normal, and yes it does seam to surge up and down a little.

 

Im in the same boat, but she idles from 500 and down and dies some times and has justs started it at first it was just a small jump just a few rpms now its from 500 to like 0! and it has no power now tilll 2000 rpm then spins the tires because Im giving it gas from the stop to get it to go! any ideas? I did new plugs and wires.

 

well im gonna check all the wire's and make sure all the plugs are tight. Then if it still does it im gonna do a compression check. My truck did this as well its still in the process of me getting my dad to help put it all together. But unlike yours my truck (350 Chev engine) all of a sudden started to run crappy if i let off the gas it it died WTF! well that night i did the usual plug/wires and still crappy, then the compression test NO compression in No. 5 turns out i floated a valve and bent the crap out of it and were thinkin its something to do with the valve's again.
