yes, you need to turn the engine over, you want to make sure that the lifters are on the bottom part of the lobe when you set lash, if you just leave it at 1 spot, at least 1 or 2 will be at some point of opening/closing, and so your lash won't be set correctly.

also there is more to tightening them down, then just tightening till they barely move, you move the pushrod with your fingers, when you just start to feel a small amount of resestance, stop tightening (i usualy losen and tighten a couple of times at that point, to make sure i am right when it just starts to touch. then i tighten 1/2 turn past that point. some people say 1/4 turn, some say as much a 1 full turn, it just depends on who you trust.

thanks i got it and it runs great!!!! except at idle when my headlights are on and the idle drops to about 500 rpm's so i need to find the idle adjustment screw any one know where it is i just need to bump it up to about 1000. i also have the triple aluminum pulley set and it has the alternator pulley which is part of the problem for the idle drop so i need to bump it up anyway!!

you may want to adjust the iac controller instead of simply turning the timing screw. Idle is good usually around 700 p/n

let me know if you dont know how to adjust the IAC

do a searcch many people do it.. a quick run down is to get a paper clip and ground the aldl... into ports a and b.. turn key on and wait 45 seconds... then unplug the est wire and the iac control plug in the TB.. then take out the paper clip and start the car ..

some dont like the stock tach in the car and many recomend buying a digital tach to read your rpms correctly but either way.. then adjust the idle screw with car in P/N and get rpms to around 700.
plug everything back together after shutting the car off and close up shop
