New data using WinALDL 1 important question
New data using WinALDL 1 important question
Sup hometown.
I went for a cruise today up Angeles Crest and recorded some data with WinALDL to see if the ECM can correct for altitude. I was bummed to see those high BLM #'s.
The highest recorded BLM was 136 @ around 6,000ft. Should I stop driving up them mountains? I had another 2 grand to go before I was going to turn around but decided not to go after seeing the BLM #'s.
I do not want to toast the pistons...
Any ayuda greatly appreciated.

I'd give it some more fuel pressure first and see if that helps. If you have a fp gauge then try and get it around 12 psi to start with. It won't fix your lean condition but it'll help until you can get the chip tuned.
Gracias Fast one...
I'm getting ready to hopefully start burning me own chips. So that's what I'm planning on doing. I found out 136 aint too bad, so that's ok. I am bottoming out at 108, though, anytime I'm near idle or cruising in overdrive.
I have to do my homework first.

If you saw a BLM of 136 then the ECM already added the fuel at part throttle...enuf to keep the pistons from burning up anyway. What that means is you'll be ok unless you floor it go into PE mode, then you'll be in piston-burning territory.
Dewey, it's not a stock chip. It's a HOT straight 6 with a few mods. The original chip that came with the TBI kit was running too rich in the lower RPM's. It got better, but still am bottoming out at 108.
Capitan! I went back up to take more data at higher altitudes and confirms what yer talkin' 'bout. I noticed if I kept the throttle only part throttle, the BLM #'s reached 145 at 7500ft. If I let off the gas more, the #'s fell to as low as 117, still at 7500ft. Anything past 3/4 throttle was asking for trouble.
