ok, whats wrong here.

ok , drove my car all day, power was feeling sluggish, ...got home, turned the car off, ....waited about two mins, and was going to put the car on ramps, cranked it back up, ...wouldnt crank.....so i pop the hood, take off the air cleaner, and try to crank it again...no fuel comming out the injectors....then after about 5 revolutions of the engine it started up but reved REAL slow, ran like crap....i nail the gas, the fuel wasnt spraying out, its was more like rain drop sized of fuel pouring out, then let off the gas and it would be an even mist. slam the gas again, ...half spraying half dripping. turn the car off, ...pop the gas cap off, huge hiss...so the pressure is obviously building.....i think....
this has happened before but it ONLY happens in 2 hour stop and go traffic in the summer. so it has to do with something heating up and failing to function correctly --at least thats my theory--
could it be the injectors heating up and failing?
fuel pump dying?
all the fuel lines are ran away from high heat sources.
whole ignition system is new, plugs and wires are good.
this is a fuel delivery related issue.
so is it the fuel pump or injectors?
anything else that could cause this?

I'm not an expert on the fuel part but what it sounds like is either your fuel pump or the filter. It may be pushing too much through a clogged filter and it's not letting it pass through, hence the pressure when you opened up the tank. When it's idle you said it was coming out normally right? There isn't as much pressure and it's allowing it to flow through nicely. When was the last time you changed your filter?
well, honestly i havent changed the fiulter since i got the car a year and a half ago, i changed it 2 hours ago though, it was a PITA might i add, but anyways it was more like the injectors were clogged....they would spray like.....half a mist and half big droplets, i cant say for sure if BOTH injectors were doing this, cause i could only see one from where i was pushing on the pedal.....and it was definatly spraying a very uneven mist and literally squirting out large droplets of fuel. the reason my car would cut off after flooring it was , it would get twice as much fuel as it was supposed to, it would just bog down and die. and when i let off the pedal, it would act as if it didnt get enough fuel, and die.
this only seems to happen when the car is hot. the heat MAY or may not have anything to do with it. my fuel pump could very well be dying and only mess up after running constantly for a few hours.
so seeing how this is so random, and the problem corrects itself almost 10 mins after the car sits, while off. its real hard to check stuff out properly. its pulling NO error codes. and nothing that i know of would cause this so randomly and so few and far bewteen.
this also only happens in the summer time. could it be something due to the a/c running the whole time? thats about the nly difference between summer and winter driving other than the heat.
but seeing how for some reason or another the fuel wasnt comming out the injectors, its definatly a fuel delivery problem. now i need to find out if its the pump, or the injectors.
Filter was replaced 2 hours ago, checked for leaks, ....let the car run for 15 mins, no leaks. lets pray it stays that way foor i couldnt use thread sealant on the FLOW side of the filter. had NO room to get that far under the car to see where the sealant was going.

well what your saying it sounds like low fuel pressure to me .. remember injectors need pressure to spray a good pattern. beside you could probaly use one and its cheaper than injectors( but also harder to change)
yeah, but would it Spray out like rain drops?

funny thing abou tmy fuel filter, ...this sob, had to of been onthe car since it was MADE. "WHY do you say that sean!" Well im glad you asked, i will tell you. because i meerly picked up a lst 10 hp or so according to the butt dyno.
im serious, this **** picked up every bit of sluggishness it had lost, ....chirps the tires going into 2nd off of a stock tranny with no shift kit, no vette servo. it makes me laugh how opften the most simple things are over looked while maintaining a car, and what all that is replaced. lets say in my year and a half of owning the car i even replaced a sitributor, before the fuel filter.
did this fix th problem? who knows. the problem comes and goes once every month or two. and none at all in the winter.
so in any event, my new injectors are ordered. yes yes stock 55lb injectors. i guess ill put a new ful pump on too , just to be on the safe side.
im assuming it hasnt had a new one in put in within the last decade. seeing how clogged the fuel filter was. i seriously want to cut this sucker open and see how much CRAP is in it.

Word to the wise....use cleaner fuel. I always fill up with super 93 octane or higher at reputable gas stations like mobil and texaco. Just because you save a few cents a gallon at some cheapo gas station doesn't mean you won't be paying for it in the end. And as a side note, I don't know how it happened but I actually hit 300 miles on one tank of gas. That's almost 26 miles to the gallon. I couldn't believe it myself. I used to get around 20-22, now I'm seeing 26?? Wow!
i never use anything lower than 93, EVER.
im going to go tomarrow and get half a tank of 110 octance *race gas..lol* ...just to help clean up the injectors and all.
they sell 120 octane out the pump here too but i doubt its a good idea to get it.

Ahh I am pretty sure that octane has nothing to do with how clean the fuel is. The only thing octane effects is detonation by allowing the gas to be compressed more in high compression engines. If you want to keep your lines clean though it is the other additives in the gas that do this, such as techron. So if you are gasing up at Texaco you might not need that 93 octane, you might be able to run 89 octane, or even 87 octane. They will all keep your lines just as clean.
Just remember that detonation thing
