HELP! im getting 7 MPG!

ok heres the car:

its a 91 L03 camaro vert

i would say its down on power, but its a L03, and frankly i cant tell the diff between the stock slow L03 and the down on power L03.

its not running overly rich as far as i can tell. it doesnt smell rich in the exhaust, and frankly, for a L03 to be using that much fuel, it should smell rich.

the car has fresh plugs, airfilter, cap, rotor, new bosch O2

thinking the exhaust was clogged, i took it off for testing purposes. it drives the same (athough louder and "sounds" faster ) and i may even be getting WORSE miliage...

ive since put the converter back on, but the catback is still off. the cat was not clogged.

WHY am i getting only 7mpg? it doesnt smoke rich, smell rich or have black soot in the exhaust.

it is NOT throwing any codes.
it is basicly stock. it has a GU2 rear, 700r4.

the tranny IS going into all gears, and the converter Does lockup.

going down the hwy, RPMs are around 2k.

the TBI didnt show a great spray pattern, so i put in good injectors that were matched from a friends 91 L03. they now spray perfectly. athough i must admit, that looks like ALOT of fuel for such a low output motor...

the only real "mod" on the car currently is a open element. the air temp sensor is underhood on top of the blower box now. it may read slightly higher temps now since its in the compartment, but that would make it run LEANER anyway, right?
the Pass side valve cover now has a push in breather.

why is my car using so much fuel?!

ideas? this one has me stumped.

First off, put the IAT sensor in the bottom of the open element where is can correctly read the temp of the incoming air. Second, get winaldl so that you can find out exactly what the car is doing. Once you do that, you will have all the answers you need.

i had the IAT sensor under there, i just moved it. thats why i noted it... it did the same thing either location, so i dont think thats it..

i have a friend with winALDL... heres the only log i have on this PC... this is from a few weeks ago, but it was just the same then as now.

i had a peek at it and noticed that the car wasn't in closed loop... so no blm tables ect... try running the car warm and the start the loggin.. drive around 30min going at all speed (highway/city) with a very light foot. then post the table again so i can take a look..

I would check my timing first. sounds like someone set the timing without disconecting the spark control link by the pass. side firewall. Happened to me after my son took it to 2 different garages with no results. Imagine that! It's even printed on a sticker under the hood. The mileage went from 10 mpg to 20 in 20 min.

Take a vacume reading. If it's not at least 20 lbs. its leaking or a spark control problem.

yea, im going to put a vac gauge on it this weekend.. i dont have one, so im going to have to wait until a friend can come over with one.

oh and to answer DSLDUDE2001:
this was my BEST miliage on the hwy. i tried it several times, first by modulating the accel pedal myself, then trying the cruise control and finally by just keeping the pedal in the same place, so that if i went uphill i went slightly slower, and downhill slightly faster....
