Connector on TBI
Anyone know what the connector going into the side of the TB (Pass. side, right infront of that vacuum thingy) does? I think it has four wires going into it.
Thanks

If it is the sensor on the end of the throttle shaft, it is the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS). If it just behind that, it is the Idle Air Control (IAC). It sounds like it is the IAC.

AAAhhhhh! Okay, well, I tapped into the blue/black wire, (to switch on a relay, NOT suply power to it) and it seemed to act funny, as in, the wire no longer had power when I turned the ignition on, but after I untapped it, and started the car and turned it off, the wire got power again.
Everything seems like its runing alright, could I have damaged anything?
Thanks!
Chris

What is your end goal? Spray? Using either the TPS or IAC to signal a relay is dependent on the chip and engine function and can produce varying degrees of success.
What is the story?
C'mon man, give it up!
Best of luck wth whatever it is-

The IAC is a stepper motor that drives a pintle using 2 coils (hence 4 wires) and a worm gear. A stepper motor works by pulsing the coils in sequence driving the motor in steps. Changing the polarity of the pulses changes the direction of the motor. This explains why you could see "power" on a wire only sometimes, depending on the position of the motor. Trying to use one of these signals to drive a relay is not a wise thing to do as the relay would be pulsing with the motor drive signal. When looking for a power source, you should always use a volt meter.:nono:
