can someone tell me what I saw...
I was in the boneyard today and I saw an older pre 85 camaro. I knew it was pre 85 by the squared turn markers in the front. anyways, I opened the hood and saw the weirdest thing I ever saw. Made me want to get a salvaged title just to learn it. It was what I believe to be an SBC with twin 1 barrel throttle bodies. but it looked too wide to be a small block. What is this thing?

The thing you saw
IF its the Cross fire injecter like the other ones said...you might wanna say that is the crappiest thing GM put on Corvettes and Camaros. It was out in the market for one year in the corvettes. 84 i believe, and for that. Its known as the worst year corvette line has ever had!!

i wouldnt sound so sure about that if i were you. tom400cfi is cross fire injected and i think hes pretty fast. and as for the corvettes 350 cross fire, it was totally capable of 140+. fastest domestic car of the time 0-60 in 7.1 i think, i may be a little off.

also keep in mind, that motor was a crutch to get the vette and camaro through new new emisions standards. no cars from that era are fast, they all were killed by the smog police, and were having to try to come up with motors that met EPA standards, and still provided some spirited driving.

the CFI has more flow potential then the 2bbl tbis since they can be bored out to larger diameters. Theyre ok if you know what your doing. Some people have gotten pretty good times out of them.

At this time I would like to thank airteam for popping my oil sending unit and failing me saying that it leaked before it came in even thought there was no oil anywhere up the driveway to the dyno. 1974 the EPA was born into a mission to give people more headaches.
yup i own a crossfire vette 1984. actually was first in the 82 vette. bored the TB's to 2.00 and installed a single plane with custom plenum called an xram by pat oney. no longer a crossfire. now an xram. larger injectors and some other stuff.
