The car is running.....
She's up and running with the edelbrock rpm airgap and 1.6 roller rockers on there. However, that is about the only good thing I can say about it. She sounds very sick.....Popping and backfiring and very little go. I have played with the timing a lot and have it set to where she is running best. The guys that built my engine did the work as it was under warrentee-I'm thinking the valves weren't set right. But considering I have header leaks on both sides, I can somewhat understand why they had a hard time setting them. I am pretty sure I hear a distinctive ticking though, and it's not the injectors or the pops from the exhaust leak. First thing first, I'm gonna get the exhaust leaks fixed. Then from there I'm gonna make sure the valves are set properly. If the problems continue or lack of power is still present, I think I'm gonna put the 1.5s back on there and assume the 1.6's are just too much for my 'lil tbi, and save the 1.6's for when I get more air flow

If you still hear the ticking sound do not panic. First fix the exhaust leak but depending on the header tube thickness it is very common to hear the rockers. Exhaust manifolds dampen out the sound but headers are thin and rockers become quit noisy even though they are running and set just fine. That is why LT1 guys with headers usualy have to go with a LT4 knock sensor because the computer confuses rocker tick with knock.

I was thinking the same thing, but honestly I'm hoping they aren't properly adjusted, and maybe adjusting them will solve some of my problems.
Another big pain in the butt is my knock sensor. That darn thing hasn't worked since i installed the 383, even though I went with the recommended 350 knock sensor and ESC module. I even have a dummy one wired up, and the darn thing still picks up knock!!!
Can't figure that problem out for anything, which is really ashame because there is no way to guage the timing for chip purposes.

Well, we figured out what the problem was- good 'ol coil bind in the springs. And I'm not willing to change the springs out at this point, so the 1.5s are back on. Kinda sucks, but at least the manifold is good to go. Maybe .544" lift is too much for the street anyways......well that is what I have to tell myself to stay sane....
She is definetely sounding good though. I can't wait to get them all set properly and make it up to the track. Who knows, maybe tomorrow night.....
Anyways, it looks like I'll have some Crane 1.6 aluminum roller rockers up for sale soon, practically new......hint...hint
