same problem
i did that a while ago i put it 93 octane and the car ran like **** then i checked my spark plugs and they were all black every since then my car ran like crap still trying to fix the problem im not excatly sure if the gas caused it but i couldnt get it started for a while either

I think I've tracked mine down to the EGR and the circuits involved with it.
If memory serves me, I think black fouled plugs indicate a rich condition.....
....have you checked codes?
It has been my experience(and trust me, I'm new at this....old muscle MOPAR guy normally
) there are a world of things that can be the problem.
My best friend in '80's GM is a little piece of metal with 2 prongs.
It usually tells me more than I want to know!LOL

you also have a timing problem right? i would fix the timing, get new plugs, then see where you are at.
