What do ya think about this cam in my 388ci
350 Block(#3970010) bored .060
Scat nodular crank(#9021) 3.75 stroke
Scat 4340 I-beam rods(#2030) 5.700" floating
Scat balancer(#D-800-01)
Scat flexplate(#FP-400)
Speed-Pro hypereutectic pistons (#H-600-P-60) 10.5:1 flat top
Holley 700cfm 4bbl TBI controlled by a custom programed ECM
This is the parts I've got so for. The motor should be a 388. I'm not sure on the heads(thinking about 190cc AFR's) and intake(maybe a RPM Air Gap) yet. I'm going with all Moroso oiling parts, along with a windage tray, crank wiper and main cap baffles. And a complete Comp Cams valvetrain.
I called Comp Cams(I'm going with a complete roller setup) today and they recommend this cam: Pt#12-418-8 Dur-224 intake/230exhaust, Lift-503 intake/510exhaust and a lobe sepration of 112*.
What do ya think of this cam? Should it make decent power? I'm looking for around 450Hp and 475Tq. Is this within reach? Thanks, Bobby

Yea that is a nice cam and should have great street mannors with that motor. It also has a nice LSA which makes tuning possible.
EDIT: By the way, are you going with TBI on thi snew motor? If you do you will need a larger TBI unit and better fuel pump. You probably already new that though. 450hp is about all you are going to get after you get it tuned perfectly. Even the large bore TBI units have their limits. Never the less that cam should work okay and make good power.

i would opt for the 900cfm unit, with the largest injectors you can get. and go one step larger on the cam, but get it ground on a 114.

ShiftyCapone,
I'm going to be using a 700cfm Holley 4bbl TBI unit. I've got a Holley Blue Pump now, with a spring upgrade I could push about 30# fuel pressure.
Dewey316,
I'm getting the 700cfm unit pre wired for the factory harness from Howell. Where could I get the 900cfm unit by its self and how would I wire it up to the factory harness? I would really rather have the 900cfm unit.
The next cam up would call for a 2800rpm up stall and this will be a car thats drove every day. I don't feel that driving a car with a stall around 3000rpm every day would be very comfortable.

why can't howell do it with a 900cfm unit? they are basicly the same thing. one is just bigger. if you have the holley part # for the 700 cfm unit they are using, i can give you the part # for the 900cfm unit that matches.

They have quit making the TBI units fit our cars. They only have a few used test models left. That is what I'm getting. The 4bbl TBI are the ones Holley sells as the kits.

You will be set with a 4 barrel one then. That motor will be great once it is up and running. 4bbl TBI systems are the way to go once you go over 350ci.
