could i take the TBI 350 out of a caprice, along with the appropriate sensors and PROM, drop it into my camaro and have the car still pass emissions?
I ask cause im not sure how similiar the emissions equipment is between the two and whether or not the caprice chip would control my camaro's emissions equipment properly. Of course, i will eventually upgrade to street legal headers, etc.

Yes you can pending you tune the PROM right and retain the normal emmsions stuff. The LO5 is by no means a performace engine and emmsions shouldn't be a problem as long as you run a cat and do the stuff I just mentioned. A search on this matter will yield you trillions of posts.

 

350 tbi caprices pass emissions dont they? I think all the emissions stuff is the same in both cars. Just compare them and see if they arent take whatever is not in your car and put it in it, then youll be set. Good Luck for their is a long road ahead of you my friend.

Why would i have to tune the prom? If i use the stock caprice cop engine and put in the stock chip, it shouldn't need any tuning, should it?

 

Yeah it should work if you get everything you need fromt the car ( prom, knock sensor, Esc module, and injectors) you should be fine tuning wise. I forgot you were keeping it pretty much stock I was thinking about the long road I had when I did the swap, but I got my L05 from a truck and I didnt know what all I needed to get mine to work because I wasnt using this site when I did my swap a while back. So it should be pretty simple for you . Good Luck.
