Alright heres my delema i would like to run mid to low 13's and have at least 330 plus hp is there any way i could od this on a budget i mean i love my stock car but all these people i see runing 15's stock is killing me i mean the late models are gona chew me up and i would like ot lay it on them anywho any replies would be helpful thanks

well, the easiest way is a new motor, 350 or bigger

I am inthe process of trying to buy/build an engine capable of 300+ HP but from what I am told, a stock TBI, Holley 670 or 454 TBI willnot be able to feed such an engine. What type of induction system are you going to use?

The only way to beat them is to become them. I own both so I can speak freely. My buddy has a fully heads and cammed and everything else 305 TBI and he is still a bit slower than my bone stock 95Z. When he is all said and done with his mods this spring he shoul dbe even with me. Mind you I have only added a cold air kit and he has, heads, cam , fuel pump, burns his own chips, suspension, etc etc..... Don't get me wrong, you can have tremndous sucess with your 305. it just takes time. Plus anything you buy for it can be swaped over to a 350.

A 454 and a Holley 670 is perfectly capable of supporting over 300 HP. Now 400 might be pushing it, but it can definately handle 300 HP.

What he said. There are several people deep into the 13's with a holley or 454 tbi. I'm in the high 13's and should be making my way to the mid to low 13's this summer. I can honestly say you can feed up to around 350-375 hp. Even more if you make it at a lower rpm. The two big restrictions on the tbi system is fuel and air. The air department has been debated, but no conclusive evidence has shown you hit a wall anywhere in the 3## range. Fuel on the other hand is a different storry. I hit the wall while tuning and didn't think I was going to be able to give my motor what it needed. It ended up I was just running too rich on the top end. With 22 psi of fuel pressure on 75pph injectors I can say that I have more than enough fuel to support my HP. My VE only goes intot he higher 80's. The nice thing about tbi injectors is they will take crazy fuel pressure. I wouldn't be afraid of running 25 or even 30 psi. WIth 90pph injectors and 25 psi you could support 400 hp easy. Now all that I just said has to do with supporting horesepower. Your motor has to make the hp. I hate to say it but your not going to get a crap load of hp and torque out of your LO3. You will need a 350 with ok heads. Good heads will make it easy to achieve that hp level. Easyest way to do it is get a GMPP HO crate motor. Look up Jprevost he has this motor and is running good times. That motor with a hotcam should let you flirt with the limits of TBI. Just my experience in a nut shell.

Yeah that gm parts 330 hp base HO looks pretty nice for 2500. can i reuse my waterpump and some other stuf if i just buy that and buy a new tbi intake and 670cfm tbi? im going to have new headers and a flowmaster system installed within a month or so but the base engine with a new tbi on top and exuast would make 330 hp mabey a little less easy??and that will put me in the low 13's probly high 14's cuase late models are running 300 hp and they weigh 3 more pounds and they pull off 14's easy prove me if im wrong but can anyone estamate an et mabey mid to high 13's with that setup?

like I said before look up Jprevost. He has that exact combo and runs like a 13.6. You also should look into using a carb intake instead of a tbi intake. Either a performer RPM or any low profile single plane with an adapter for your holley/454 tbi. This has been discussed a million times so check out the stickies at the top of the page.

I don't know if I mentioned this or if your aware. Your car won't even idle without chip tuning. I'm not talking about a stage whatever chip from some guru. YOU will need to learn how to tune your car and be commited to doing it yourself. Other wise this project will end in you putting the stock motor back in or living with a really slow car with a fast looking motor. Get the equipment now and learn with the stock motor and then see what happens with the exhaust and tune around it and then you will realize what it's going to take to tune a completly new motor with a much bigger cam. Just for reference it took me a good 4 months to get my car back to the performance level that it had with the carb. But now that it is. The power band is much broader and I have added almost 3 mpg, and the drivabilty is just amazing. Granted I swaped a complete fuel injection sytem into my non fuel injected car but it was still a learning curve. If you aren't familiar with tuning anything you have a steep learning curve ahead. I hate to say it but you would be much better off with a carb and learning the basics with the old manual fuel air mixers. Like I said play with your car while it's stock, to get a feel for things.
