Hey all, i am having some small problems with my car, it has always dont this but it is getting worse. When i am sitting at a idle after the car has warm up, it wil idle up then back down, i guess this is what would be called a surging. When im holding my foot on the brake at a light, it will scoot forward a little and people think i wanna race. What could cause it to do this?

 

retard your timing is what I would do first. My timing was set to 16* advance on my 92 and when I finally got around to installing the 350 balancer, i set it to 12* advance like GM calls for and the surging idle went away.

vaccum leak?

 

When was the last time your car had a tune up. It could be a vacuum leak like 25th mentioned.

 

I gave it a tune up about 6 months ago. the only thing i didnt change is the distributor cap. I will have to check out the vacuum, to see if i have a leak. Thanks !
