Here is the low donw.....car runs "ok"....89 305 TBI 160,000 KMS. but here is the low down and i am trying to get an idea as to things before I start ripping into anything.

The car lays down a good smoke screen when I get on her. ......its not blue....its like its black. NowI know thats not "good"....what could it be...a bad valve....bad rings....something else??? I know she goes through a little bit of oil...but its not all that bad...any suggestions

I know I am being sorta vague on the details but anyone have any suggestions as to what it may be...I cant keep driving this car like this...I am srue I am going to get pulled over sometime soon with this...so this is sort of my "project" for this month

Black could mean a lot of things. it can mean oil and fuel, fuel alone or a super mix of coolant, oil, and fuel. What does it smell like. If you are really righ you will smell unburnt gas in the exhaust.

 

I would definitely look at a fuel problem if it's black smoke. I had an ecm go out in my GTA that caused it to dump gas. If it's really bad then be careful about running it until you figure out what it is. I wound up with washed down cylinder walls that caused me to lose the rings and now it burns blue smoke (oil) from the blowby. (Luckily just put the 350 (L05) in the camaro)
