Is this a good deal?? ASAP

Its a 91 Camaro Rs. It has a 150,000 miles but only have 10,000miles on engine and trans. He is asking $3500 obo. It has this motor http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...89&prmenbr=361 I think that is the one b/c he said that it was a GM creat motor and it was $1700. Well one prob is that he but the 305 tbi unit on the 350!!! That is probably hurting performance right??? I would probaby carb it. I would change the cam b/c that is very weak cam. How bad are the heads on this motor?? 200hp 350 is sad if you ask me. Does this sound like a good deal?????? Thanks alot!!!!

www.paceparts.com , look for the 92-93 caprice engine. The truck engine you listed is not roller and is about $100 more than the caprice motor. Although, if you dont care about the engine being roller then go with the truck engine because it is a 4 bolt main i believe.

also i just found out that same engine is only $1547 from paceparts.com (the truck motor from your link), so you might want to go with them if the shipping cost is not too much

the heads are probably the worst 350 heads every produced by GM according to most people. They are swirl port heads which are good for low end torque but dont flow to well at higher rpms, they are definately not performance heads.

so that creat 350 also has swirl heads like the 305??? If they are ****ty swirl heads on the 350 what would be some decent heads for a decent price?? I thought somewhere i read something that you would buy some heads for $500 from GM? What do you think if car would run in the 1/4 mile if i changed the cam, 1.6 rr, 3.73, and i carb it??? thanks for the help!

Heres some advice my pop gave me... "buy the car if you like the car itself. dont buy the car just cuase it has a nicer engine than the rest for all you know that could be one big ball of **** and plus geting a 350 already put in the car doesnt that kill the experance of haveing your car and put what you want in it? dont you wana have the joy of droping that 350 in and cranking it up for the frist time knowing that you put that in there?"

Your main problem is using the stock PROM. That motor is good that it is a 350 but it is bad because it has garbage heads and a non roller block.
