swapping To A TBI (Please Help)
Ok My brother has a 1984 Trans am with a carb. We baught a TBI motor Complete with all accessories including Smog, power steering, Water Pump,Alt, All sensors, distributor.
It also Included the wiring harness and a 1227747 ECM. The engine cam out a a 1988 Full Size Blazer.
Now The First question is can We buy a External Electric Fuel Pump so We don't have to drop the tank. If so Where and What brands. Also What is it going to take to plum the fuel lines to the TBI Engine.
Besides a Electric fan What else Are we going to need or do before swapping.
(If this was a TPI swap I would know because I have Already done 3 of those.)

You can get away with an inline pump. Which one you choose is uo to you but you will want to pick one that can support more than 15 PSI. As for fueling you need a feed line and a return line. You can use rubber hoses with the correct fitting on the end to attach to the TBI unit. You are going to need the ECM and RPOM from any TBI car but you cannot mix and match computer stuff between the car version and truck version. Go with one or the other. If you do not have every sensor make sure you get ones for that new motor. Does this motor come with the distributor and everything?
