TBI on vortec 4.3 v6

I am wondering what I have to do to get a TBI to work on a Vortec 4.3 v6. What do I need and what would be the best system? How big can I go on the 4.3?

The reason for me wanting a TBI on a vortec is this http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=243676 thats the whole story and the whole reason I want to build this engine.

I am not aware of any vortec intakes available for use with TBI. You may have to use older 4.3 heads so that you can use a standard 4.3 intake. The vorec 4.3's really have nothing in common intake wise compaired to TBI. If you keep the vortec heads on there your biggest problem will be finding a vortec intake. Why not just keep the vortec induction system as well?

P.S. Sorry to here about the loss of you close friend. Does he have any brothers or sisters that might be interested in the Samari when it's finished?

Only child. I am not to sure what the engine is out of. He baught it from a junkyard. It has no intake on it right now. it's complete less induction. When I get to his garage and help his dad clean it out I will get the numbers off of the block and maybe that will help. It could possibly be from an s10. Was the stock set up fuel injection or carb? I am really in the dark about the thing right now. Do they sell aftermarket torque cams for them? but back to the point, maybe they make an adaptor for the stock intake to take a TBI? he said he wanted it to have fuel injection and first thing I thaught was cheap and easy TBI. thanks for the help and feel free to post anything about anything that might help me out.

The best thing I can think of at the momemt would be to look at the heads and see if they have the intake bolts the go vertical to the ground or at an angle. If they are verticle then it will take a special intake if one is available, if at an angle you can use a fourbarrel intake with an adapter or a stock tbi intake. I think I would find a S10, S15, Caprice or Astro van that originaly had a tbi set up and get the intake, tbi, all sensors, wiring harness and ecm.

IIRC, edelbrock makes an intake for the vortec 4.3 motors. Not bad units and a good tuned tbi would easily meet the CPI. The intake is for a carb but with an adapter it would be fine. I was planning to swap one of the later model tbi pcms onto my 4.3 but i sold the truck before I could do it.

Center or Central Port Injecton. Terrible system IMO, never had much luck with it. The plasticy poppet style injector is unreliable and likes to leak alot. Last time I had to do it, it was about $400 a pop to get another injector and I had to replace it 3 times over the life of the vehicle, only seemed to last about 30,000 miles before leaking gas everywhere.
