Will I have valve clearance w/ this combo?

Ok you guys, looking for a little advice here...actually a lot. About 6 months ago I bought a 92 305 TBI, and have slowly been accumulating parts for a build-up. I was wondering if the parts I have now will overwhelming for the 305, what I will need to go with (Bigger Throttle body, etc.), and I KNOW I will need some custom PROM burning and tuning...but I know absolutley nothing about that...so I was looking for some guidance. I know the Bottom End is fine, because the previous owner, who happened to be the original owner, was not aware of the tach being off progressively, and he says that it was like that from the factory...so as far as anyone (beside's me of course!) goes...the car has red-lined at 3 Grand throughout its entire exsistince! lol...I did a Comp. check last week and all cylinder's are within 3% of each other after 130000...can't get much better than that!...The drive train is basically all stock for the moment...Here's what I have done to the motor so far...
-K&N open element with Edlebrock Housing
-Removed EGR
-March Pulley's
-Ultimate TBI Mods
-Low temp Thermostat and Fan Switch
-Accell Cap, Rotor, High-V Coil, etc.

And here's what I have in my room waiting to be put on....
-081 casting heads, Oven baked, Steel shot blasted, Magnfluxed, New valve guides, Cut for positive valve seals, flame hardened exhaust seats, CBN Resurfaced (.010), 3 angle Serdi valve job, New enlarged 1.94 intake...stock size 1.5 exhaust valves, New .525 lift valve springs, New seals, and New hardened valve locks. They are not yet ported, but I will be working on that soon or I have a feeling it will kill my cam...
-Comp Cams Xtreme Energy Hydralic Roller, 264 Grind, .488 intake lift, .495 exhaust lift. @108 intake centerline and .050 lift 212 intake and 218 exhaust duration, with 112 degrees of lobe separation...
-New Hydralic roller lifters
-New Aluminum Full Roller Rockers, 1.5 Ratio
-double roller timing chain
-All Hardware and gaskets needed

Has anyone run a comb like this before??? Do yall think that the valves will have clearance with the pistons...or are they going to be doing some nasty ****-star grind with the pistons??? I can clearance them before final instalation, but I wanna go ahead and fly-cut the pistons if I'm going to HAVE to....but if it will clear at ALL then I don't want to....

Basically I need some Advice...what are my options on intakes, what are the best options as far as headers go, and I do NOT need to be smog legal as I live in the great state of Texas. I was wondering if the stock TBI will be sufficient...I know it will be pushed to its absolute Limits...but I'm getting short on cash for the moment. And I was wanting to know ANYTHING anyone can offer as far as PROM burning goes...because I don't have the slightest knowledge of where to even start, but I know it will be a MUST after the heads/cam swap. Any other advice of Recomondations are ENCURAGED! [COLOR=red]Pretend it was your car...go WILD!!!! [/COLOR

piston clearance should be ok with under .500 lift. you will want to check to verify, but sicne you don't have a rebuilt bottom end, you slugs are .025 in the hole, so that will help, unless you decked the heads substantualy, i don't forsee any clearance issues.

you combo is pretty similar to mine, i was look at the HR264-12 comp grind, i am going with a lunati instead, but similar specs. currently i have a 206/216 cam in. For intake, i would look for a low-rise single plane, i have wieand 7525, but it seems to be unavailable, it has provisions for EGR. you will want the 670CFM TB unit from holley, or a 454 unit. the larger injectors include will be a huge help here, you WILL max out your injects, with that cam expect a shift point in the 6400-6500 range.

Headers, i would go with the hedman long-tubes if you can, if you want shorties, i look the hookers, i have 2055's but that is because i need emmisions. you don't, get the non-a.i.r. version of those, if you go shorty.

Computer work, start now, before you install anything. tune you stocker. get used to changes, see how changes effect the motor, and read everything you can on the diy-board. if you have questions, ASK. When you get to tuning it, if you need help, and understand the risks, i can probably e-mail a bin that i use, that should be a good starting place to tune that combo.

Hope that helps, let me know if you need further clarification on anything.

I would add that you should go with some Steel roller rockers and not aluminum. The aluminums wear faster and aren't really for street applications that they need to last long.

Hey guys...sorry to sort of hijack this thread...I promise to only ask one question.....Dewey...did you ever find out/figure out which EGR works on those Holley/Weiand manifolds?????

Thanks,
Dave

If your going to port your heads be very carefull, you should have done it before the head work was done or at least before the valve job. If you make a mistake in the valve bowl area and nick a valve seat you will have to get a new valve job done. Just something to think about.

I will try to answer a few of the things that have not been covered yet. You will be at the limits of the stock TBI unit. I would look into the Holley 670 or a moddified 454 truck unit with larger than stock injectors. However, I would only do that after you get a good tune dialed it. As Dewey said TUNE now. You will thank yourself later. You are also going to need a high flow fuel pump to feed that thing at WOT. I love the heads and cam selection you have and I don't think i could have picked out a better combo. As for headers I would stay with shorties. Even with all those mods you will not really be able (power wise) to take advantage of what long tube headers can bring to the table. You can take shorties pretty far and have all the ground clearance you need for future suspension mod. I hope you have suspension mods in the works becuase you will have serious tration issues. None the less one you get your beast tuned you will have the joy of 6200 rpm shifts making power the whole way there.

I have a block-off plate on right now (actualy the manifold is not on the car, i am putting it on this afternoon, i'll post pics of my weekend project early next week. (3rd cam swap in 4 months).

Now for the headers debate, actualy the Long-Tubes give crazy wild mid-range, which that cam is going to shine in, it will make good power between 2500-5500 rpm. if emmisions, and groundclearance, ect are not a concern, long tubes would complement that combo very well.

Hey thanks alot you guys, sorry it has taken me a couple days to reply, I've been working to 3 in the morning (bartending) So I haven't been able to get on the old comp. What are some good fuel pumps out there? I was thinking about it Dewey, and with that cam, I know a single plane intake will really help me out in the top-end...but since the car will be street driven also, do yall think that will cost me too much low-end torque? I will be going with the shortie headers without the AIR provisions...because unless I switch to AIR Bag suspension, groundclearance IS an issue...that also brings me to another question...when I remove the AIR Pump, will I have to get a Delete Pulley to go in its place? or is it possible to go without anything in its place? I will be getting a bigger throttle body, etc. And I think I have it all lined out now. But still more questions...

As Far as suspension mods go...I gotta work on that. (For the Price) what is a good setup for LCA's, Tourque Arm, and Panhard Rod? I will also be getting some gears and and Posi in the near future...so what gears do yall think I should get? I was thinking 3.23's...and what is a decent Posi for the Price?

I just Picked up an Aluminum LS1 Driveshaft today. that should help with the vibration....

What is a good Shock/Strut/Spring combo that will increase the overall handling but still work together to give a decent ride? Eibach/Koni, etc.? I am still new to this car, so I don't know ALOT about parts swapping yet, Is it possible to go Coil-Over on a third-gen? and it it worth it?

I've already been working on the prom burning...I have been data Logging some, but Which Prom's should I buy for my computer, or even...What's the deal with this Prominator thing? Is it worth the money to get it and ditch the Chip Burning/Erasing/Programming? I would love to see that .bin file you have Dewey, I can compare it with my stock one, and It should REALLY help out learning how to go about it.

Thanks alot yall, and sorry for all the questions...but If I'm gonna spend the money...by *** I'm gonna do it right...lol...I hate guys who just Throw a Huge cam in a 305 with otherwise everything stock, and are dissapointed when it dosen't make 750 horses, pop a willie, and runs WORSE than before...lol...

I think I found the world's foremost TBI experts here...lol...will yall adopt me? :hail:
