I'm thinking about swaping in new valve springs since I couldn't afford to do it when I rebuilt the motor. I'm wondering about the stock valve springs specs like diameter and the degree of the valve locks and info on the retainers. I bought the cam from summit and they recommend these springs CCA-981-16 also from summit.

Will they install without any machining. Will I be able to use the same retainers and valve locks?

Its in the tranny...it helps it flow more fluid, I think, to help it shift better.

Those springs should work fine. You could go a bit cheaper if you went with Z28 springs or K-motions. However, there are serious qualtiy and durability issues with those. I would stick with what you have picked out.
