350tbi head??

Ok i plan on swapping my 305tbi with a 350tbi sometime in the next couple of months and i've been searching the threads to find out exactly what to do. i've also been looking at other peoples set ups to find out what is the best. now for my question, i see a lot of people say they are going to use 305tpi heads but i havent seen anyone talk about the 350tpi heads. i have a chance to pick up some 350tpi heads but i dont wanna buy them and then find out that i should have went with the 305tpi heads. Any help would be great, Thanks

If you're going with a 350 it'd be better to use the 350 tpi heads or at least just as good. If you're sticking with a 305 it'd be better to use the 305 tpi heads.

Thats what i figured but then why would you put 305 heads on a 350? would that restrain it from making any real power?

Well the 305 and 350 tpi heads flow very similarly but the 305's have 58 cc chambers and the 350's have 64cc chambers. The 305 heads will boost compression and may not flow much less. Both sets of heads also respond very well to porting. Port a lot out of either of them and boost the compression a little you'd have a nice motor.

As Bron said there isn't much difference between the Iron TPI heads besides valve size and chamber size. I would also look at the vortec heads. They are an even better choice.
