What are the specs on that cam? I hope they are not the typical generic lame grinds that Edelbrock is famous for. I would have that intake bored to 2" since you have the Holley 670. After that, chip work and more chip work. I will go out on a limb here and say that you will run slower than your previous best on your first couple of burns. It will take some time and patience but once you get your tune dialed in you could see those times. The gears may be a bit steep and I doubt they match the cam or the powerband that your new combo will produce.

Id go with a different cam. The edelbrock cam is probably weak and not much better then stock. Also, does edelbrock make a roller for tbi? I couldnt find the specs. As far as the cam, something with around 210-212 deg of duration at the intake lobe would be nice*. Depending on the cam you may want to also get better valve springs and good steel rockers. Better set of heads is also in order. Jsut about anything out there is better then the stock heads. A set of tpi heads would be a good place to start.

*Tuning will be required.

That setup is weak.

You need a bigger cam and heads.

Just out of curiosity, why are you still modding teh car if its for sale? Youll need that money for the tpi car in your sig. Youll almost be at the same place with that as you where with the stock tbi.

Are you trying to do this on the stock heads? If so I would check out the flow numbers on the stock L03 heads in the first vortec 305 issue of CHP. Get a cam that matches the flow numbers with some good duration. I wouldn't waste your money on a distributor either.

OK guys, here's his Edelbrock's TBI cam specs:

194/214

.398/.442

Lobe Sep = 112*

Intake Centerline = 107*

Now that's some long duration (even more than mine), but I think that the intake lift is too small, especially compared to the exhuast lift. I don't think I've ever seen a cam with that much of a difference between the two.

For what it's worth, I had one of their "Performer" cams in my 460, and it was a complete waste of money.

That was my first real project, so I pawn it off as lack of knowledge.

In my honest opinion, that grind is a joke. Is it even a roller cam? That looks like their flat tappet profiles.

You need a way bigger cam, and maybe some DIY head porting??

lol, I can definatly relate to the headache part.

Like everyone else has said, you need a better cam. If your going to be going through all the effort to swap cams you should definatly go for something good. The tbi cam is barely even a step above the stock one and will produce little gains in performance. Something like the compcams XR269HR with 112 LSA or maybe a ZZ4 cam. Not as much duration but paired up with a good set of heads it could make some decent power.

Call the cam manufacturers. Im sure they could steer you toward some of their products that would best suit your needs.

The cam that edelbrock recommends in their power package isn't a roller cam as far as I remember. I definitely agree go bigger.
