The egr code may be setting just due to the fact that you have an aftermarket exaust and some types of egr valves will fail to open without enough back pressure.

The code 43 can set for several reasons. It can set for runaway knock, a dead knock sensor, malfunctioning module, or an open circuit on the signal wire. The code 43 will set if the forced knock test fails. The computer will add an additional 14 degrees or so to force knock. If it doesnt see it, the computer tries again with around 20 degrees of SA and if it fails to see anything it will set a code 43

The code 43 will also set if you have runaway knock, like if your motor has lots of detonation. It can also set if the signal wire is open. The counter in the computer will jsut run and run and itll set a code 43.

The effect the code 43 is the computer will set full spark retard and the car will run like crap untill you restart.

hey
had exactly the same codes myself. If you do a search with my name or tricksters you'll find the wiring diagram he posted. very usefull.
I changed my sensor which didn't help at all, then I found out I had a bad ground but Couldn't find where it was connected to the firewall so just spliced in a new one to the shock strut.
The new ESC module is about $130 so try everything else first.

With the EGR I took it off cleaned inside the intake opening as much as possible, got tons of gunk out of there, cleaned the valve reconnected all the tubes tightly just to be sure and no more codes.

The diagnostics are all there and it's very clear how to trouble shoot. Good luck
