Probably would throw a check engine code. Plug it in and relocate it if that's your problem. I just zip tied mine off to the side.
I think you and flowmaster are confused. You don't want to relocate your idle air control. Now if you two meant inlet air temp sensor (iat) then I will agree that you can relocate it but why? It's not really nessesary.

The IAC does not throw a code.
By unplugging it you'll affect the idle of the car. Depending on how much it is open your car may idle too low or too high, if at all. Also, by doing so, if it idles high, the idle will never come down.
I've heard that shifting an automatic into gear with the idle too high is bad. Does damage, to what, I forget exactly.
If you're thinking of IAT as steve suggested, its not so severe, but I wouldn't advise doing so. By disconnecting it the computer will not adjust fuel delivery based on air temp. You may run too rich or lean.

well today i unplugged it (IAC), and it really didnt affect my idle too much...i adjusted it with the idle speed screw, and the car seemed to run a little better with it disconnected... i was just wondering if it would mess something up if you leave it like that..

You won't really hurt anything with it unplugged but you could fix that with some simple tuning. You just tune the IAC to stop being so stupid and it's rather nice (in cold weather).
Keep in mind that the ecm IS still thinking that it has control of the IAC. If it doesn't multiple things can(will) happen, you just might not feel it. First off, when the IAC is comanded to open there is some accel enrichment added to the injector on-time, this you might feel as a rich bog on a completely stock engine. Then there's the idle adjustments. The ecm has a target idle, if it's too high or low it moves the IAC, if that doesn't work it'll add/pull timing up to a point.
Again, with $120 worth of parts you'll have everything you need to tune the IAC and them some. Don't listen to the people that haven't tuned a car about how difficult it is. Just listen to the people that bit the bullet and are tuning. If you can find a local guy that will help you tune thats best. Tuning "shops" usually do crappy work. I have yet to find an advertised tuner that has any credentials let alone return customers.
