48mm bore limit on stock TBI

is the limit because of the vaccum ports or wall thickness? i've got access to mills and lathes so custom throttle blades aren't a problem. is it possible to mill the bores length-wise in order to avoid the vaccum ports(if thats a problem)?

If you go any larger than 48mm you start cutting into the cavities behind the bore walls. Even at 48mm you have to plug the CCP ports or else you'll have 2 big slots in the bores.

Throttle plates aren't square. They're cut at an angle so making them would be alot harder than it's worth. You can buy a set cheap from Holley.

unless by cheap you mean $10 i think i'll be making my own. is there any way to remount the injectors to the intake or would i be better off just getting a wiring harness off a TPI camaro and go tuned port?

basically what brought this question up for me was this auction-http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7943259712&category=33558

48 mm on a 220 TB....not really

you asked the same ? on another board I believe.....

at the end of the day modifying a SB Rochester 220 will cost you way more in time and material than an off the shelf BB TB piece or the Holley aftermarket TB.

my dad owns a machine shop so there wouldn't be any cost besides my own time and no I haven't asked this question on any other board.
