Looks pretty good. This mod is starting to become more an more popular. I believe the biggest downfall is the lack of plenum size in that type of bonnet.

there is an aftermarket piece, but its to expensive, i got this piece for about $6 at the local pick n pull and i already had the tpi duct from the z
i dont think that this will pose too much of a restriction being that the engine is mostly stock for now
can't wait to get this thing driving again

That is indeed the case. The open element "feels" much stronger at lower speeds compared to the caddy tbi/tpi air cleaner with ram air ducts.

Costill--- I did the same thing. Did you need to gut the TBI hat so it would sit down and seal on the TB: I also had to shave the bottom of the hat to get it to sit flat on the TB so the hood would close.

What year and model were your hat and duct from? I am OK with The TPI plenum up to the rad support but what did you use between the plenum and the hat?

it was from an early to mid 90's 4.5 tbi cadillac the front wheel drive ones, i don't remember the exact model. there is a metal piece that i did have to yank out to get it to fit, other than that, ive had no clearance issues , but my hood doesn't latch yet since im still putting the front end back together it seems to close as normal and i don't hear any rubbing or hitting of the bonnet

im am still toying with mine during the down time to see if i can get a better fit. you have to work with it just a bit to get it to fit with the tpi duct (btw-its best to find a non-MAF tpi duct) due to it being offset just a bit
