New Chip
I have a stock engine with simply an open air element.
I bought a stage 1 TBIchips.com chip for my ECM. I paid 70 bucks for it. I installed it today.
After I reconnected the battery and fired the engine, I let it idle for 3-5 minutes to see if any codes appeared and to listen to the engine.
No worries.
Then I drove to GM Sports Salvage in San Jose (love walking around that place, hate the prices they put on things). This is usaually a 20-30 minute drive for me (one way).
To cut to the chase the car ran just fine. Since we all know that the "butt dyno" is an unreliable way to explain anything, I'm not sure what exactly I got other than having the speed limiter on the ECM removed (actually pretty happy about that). I want to drive to Sacramento or Santa Cruz/Monterey and see what kind of economy I get as the drive to San Jose guzzled a ton of fuel. Well, I did have my foot into it a bunch.
If this little exercise and lightening of my wallet did anything, it lessend my fear of messing with the computer. If I do anything to the engine in the future (you know, like replace it. hehe) I feel confident that I could learn what the datalogs show and how a PROM modifies that.
Lastly, and with good economy results, I would recommend this chip to someone with a STOCK ONLY setup. If I've learned anything from the folks on this forum it's that for realizing performance gains on a modified engine, the route I took with my chip is not the way to go.
Flame away.

Dude I had my chip out a few weeks ago so I could read it in my new Programmer (YAY!).
Did you struggle getting it out of the holder?
Have you noticed any improvement at all.
I've read you'll get better MPG because the "emissions dips" have been smoothed out in the chip.
I don't think anyone is going to flame you. Lots of people are happy with Mr B'
I'm considering sending him my spec's so I can at least see what he does on the chip.
Cheers
