Best timing for LT1 Cam??? (305 TBI)

Should the timing be changed when istalling an LT1 cam or just use the default?...is so, what should the timing be?

You can only play with the base timing. You will need chip work to get the most out of that cam (timing and fuel wise). Even with the stock PROM the car will not run with anything less than 12* advance at base.

Correct. lol. My car stumbled, surged, ran pig rich, and hesitated with full bolt ons, LT1 cam and the stock PROM. It was slow and undrivable. They heart of these cars are in the chip.

I went with an L98 cam. It is probably somewhere between the stock LO3 cam and the LT1 cam, and I still needed a lot of tuning to get running half way decent.
